United-Kingdom Headlight level problems

Hello,

Please can anyone explain and help my poorly mini

From time to time when I'm driving at night i notice my headlights are pointing down to the ground making driving visability very poor. As i try to re-adjust them using the level switch nothing happens.
This is a intermittent problem and only happens when it feels like it.

Any ideas?

thanks
Steve

Hey thanks

Well that was my last resort to go to the MINI dealership. I did have an idea to set them up then disconnect the leveling switch wires to stop from happening again. However i thought could have affects to the start up of the ignition of the car as you can hear the lights aligning themselves as the car is started.

Hope there can be a cheaper option.

Is it lowerd or anything...as this can cause the xenons to be way out (mind you said the wheelie thing, so I guess that means they are halogens)

mini is not lowered or modified in anyway, they are the basic mini lights no flash blue lights here

Happened again tonight when on way home, thinking could be a fault wire somewhere cause when they do they work they work great! you can realign them using the switch near to the steering wheel to adjust them higher or lower.

Dont want to change light units as could be expensive and i wanna fit a cooper s body kit with centre exhaust an all that.

Guess i have to put u with the dodgy lights,

cheers

Hey up Steve!

My car has recently developed this fault to from shutting the bonnet a bit vigorously in a whilst hissy fit...d'oh!
There is another thread on this problem (should be near this one now in faults forum and has a few DIY fixes to try.

My drivers side headlight points to the ground, checked with mini mechanic today...he said it is possible to disconnect the self leveling with no effect on ignition, he was vague about WHAT to disconnect though.
for $1700 AUD for a replacement headlight I will be doing some research on how to disconnect self leveling.....if anyone knows how...it will be appreciated, thanks

Headlight leveling problems

Sounds like a plan,

Going to Tinker about under the bonnet to see how to disconnect the self leveling motors. Once set at the height then will mae the cut.

Will add on later the results...

Any other ideas please shout up!
