Hi Paul - Just read your woes with your MINI. It is entertaining for us reading it, Im sure everyone reading this has had a chuckle, but seriously I do feel soory for you having a dodgy MINI and a very unhelpful dealer....... hope it gets fixed in the end..... Maybe we could offer it as the new modern version to the film 'Christine' ?? Keep giving them a hard time til they fix or swap it.!!!

Sorry to hear about your problems mate, just wondered if you use public transport for a week or so? If you can manage without your car for a week why not park it directly outside your " helpful" dealer and then pray it does the disco thing a couple of times. hopefully this bad publicity may be the kick up the A*** that our dealer needs. you could also sit nearby with video cam then show Mr "I still haven`t seen it" how it plays up outside his garage. Hope it all goes well soon, D.

Just bought a MCS and experienced the same issue the first night i drove it - IN RAIN!!! The BMW garage tested a lot of stuff, charged me a lots of money without solving it. Luckily i solved it my self. The case is water/moist entering the electronics in the boot. You have to remove the boot cover inside to access the electronics parts operating the trunk opening. You will find moist/water here. Let it dry. I sprayed it with Pronto (Same brand in English???) which I used many many years ago to remove moist in my old car with carburetor. Solved it permanently by removing the outside handle and sealing it with silicone. Problem solved! Hope this helps you!

Joy at last.............!

The recovery guy eventually arrived and car taken to dealer! it was pushed into the workshop and when a slave battery connected to car all the lights came on and a strange bleeping sound emmited from engine bay area then the interior and boot lights stated flashing too!!

I showed the tech and sales manager and assistant service manager the video evidence and they recognise there is now a fault.....but......the poor tech hasnt much of an idea where to start to fix it!!

I dont envy him one bit..............

But im now more calmer knowing that the fault's been seen

Although the recorded faults in the memory seem to make no sense as to what has been going on with my MINI............................

Glad you're making progress.

But you don't need a tech, you need.......

Hope they figure it out ASAP.

That sounds like a good idea!
That should get the ball rolling a bit faster!
Sounds like you've got yourself a bit of a "lemon"
I've known of people in the past to advertise this on their cars that have been faulty...
Hopefully it gets sorted out soon...

Its sounds similar to a couple of cars we've seen, so at a guess I would go for the power steering pump is at fault and then if it is still possesed after that I would check every earth.

If you still have no luck with the dealer or any other dealer, drive up to us and we will put another pump on and you can try that for a month and see if that cures the problem, then if it does you can go and nicely give the old one back to the service manager .

Well, Havin gone and had a meeting with the garage's DP i now no longer own a MINI Cooper S

Im now awaiting a new car to arrive and am SO relieved ........................

But, the bloody devil car has not played up once whilst its been at the garage! admittidly it hasnt moved since it was dropped off of the low loader at the dealership..........im sure that if one of the tech's drove the thing for a few weeks they would experience the strange goings on...............

But............hey............. i no longer care!

I just hope the next owner has better luck with it than i have
