Sat Nav Fuse

Hi,

i have a Oct 2002 MCS with nav.

im having trouble since attempting a firmware upgrade. can someone please tell me which fuse is for the nav, and would i find it in the footwell fuse box or under the bonnet fuse box?

thanks very much in advance.

What is the problem?

My best guess would be that you have a disk stuck in the NAV, more than likely a V28 disk.

Here is the resolution if this is the case...

Quote:
You used a CD burnt as Mode1. Throw this CD away, and burn another, and ensure it is Mode2 Before inserting into nav unit

Switch off ignition, unplug nav unit to disconnect from power.
Then plug back in, and keep pressing eject repeatably - can take a minute or so - the CD will be ejected.

Once the CD is out, use another Mode2 CD and the nav will load the OS OK.

hi there.

Yes your absolutely right. wow, must be magic!

I purchased a cd from ebay (ok i know that could have been a massive mistake but this guy had 1000odd positive feedback for v28 updates)

put the disk in, nav locked up and now i have nothing. He is being very friendly and helpfull, however friendlyness doesnt make the nav work and i hate things not working. Really really bugs me.

He has suggested i try some different media, ive tried 3 brands of CD (i burnt an image of his disk)
all have got stuck in there but i have managed to get the others out.
well i shall try your suggestion, thank you very much. how do i burn a CD in mode2?

You do know that those updates can be downloaded for free?

As for Mode 2, it depends on the program that you are using to make the disk. There should be an option for making a Mode 2 disk.

no i didnt know that, but i do now. i purchased a map disk, v28 update and key cd. wasnt expensive.
i was trying to make the CD with nero. however it seems the original disk which i am trying to burn an image of is made in mode1, does that mean i cannot create a mode2 disk from it?

thanks very much for the help.

An image is just an image. The mode is how the CD is burned.

What version of Nero are you using?

The V28 disk contains the V22.1 software for MKIII version NAVs. However, if the CD is burned in Mode 1, the CD player in the NAV has a hard time reading it.

Best bet is to just disconnect the battery rather than removing the seat. I have no idea where the fuse would be for the Nav.

I did remove the battery connection last night..i also then closed the boot, what a donkey! i had to clamber in the back of the car, wrench the parcel shelf out, lower the rear seats and reconnect it from there (the boot is an electrical operated catch)
i removed the CD but i still cant get my nav working. i think we have established it isnt the media type, ive tried about 6 different brands of CD now, none of which have worked!

Might be best to see if you can find version 22.1 yourself. Have a look at X5world and see if they have it. If I have time I'll try to search and locate it.
