Squeaking seat - any advice?

The driver side seat in the 2002 S has started squeaking like mad. I sprayed some WD40 on the underside (hey, it's the cure to everything!) and it stopped.

For a day!

Any advice? Can you buy spray on "grease" as a more long term fix?

I'm interested in hearing any solutions to this. My 2002 Cooper occasionally does the same thing.

My passenger seat has just started doing that. So annoying! I would love to solve this too.

My JCW seat does this in my new S after being "professionally" installed by BMW. It's been back twice for the problem...

Strange how Damo fitted the same seat to my old Cooper and it was ok for 6 months......

I had the same problem in my 02 S, just used a combination of spray grease and normal grease and applied to internal seat runners. and pivots in the lift mechanism. Problem well and truely sorted, hasn't squeked in years....

This is what you need

Liberally spray all the seat frame mountings and cushion support parts with the seat out of the car/ It'll last for ages.

How odd is this... was going to post the exact same thread this morning - my drivers seat squeeks like mad on all the bumpy roads... very irritating. Always hesitant about taking my MINI to the dealers...

Will try that ROCOL stuff and let you know how I get on.

This is the most unprofessional bit of site management I have seen since I was banned from a certain other site...at least they had the excuse that they were enthusiasts who had strong views and not professionals paid to keep thier cool!

My 2005 MCS had a squeaking seat and when the dealer took the car in to look at it they said there was some plastic still on the seat which was causing the squeaking so they removed this and it did seam to help.

Apparently, the red areas are the places to hit.
