True... and they last well and unlike EBD's ***** pads they actually stop the car

Suprised anyone is using Red Stuff on the road though! Green Stuff is dangerous enough....

So what am I doing? Well Roland gave me a few options but I have settled on a JCW210 head to replace the standard head. I was actually surprised it was standard as I always thought the Hartge conversion had a modified head. This gives me a bit of an upgrade for not too much outlay. I also have the option of JCW injectors.

Whilst there it was discovered that the Redstuff pads have worn very quickly and the discs need changing too so a set of GTT spiroslots are going on. It will be interesting to compare the standard pads and discs to these.

After this is done the mapping will be checked.

Isnt it just a bargain to get a standard head and valves off ebay for £20 instead of the cost of the JCW head?

True but then where would I be? A lot of money out of my pocket and nothing to show for it. Now the head is off and I'm paying for that labour I might as well get something better on there. The same reason Roland suggested the injectors to me. It's a simple replacement now the head is off so I might as well go for it and it offers me a little protection against the problem reoccurring.

The JCW head is sat at Rolands anyway so it's not brand new, just nearly new from another car.

It was acceptable in the 80's

The reason I chose them is because the Greenstuff were rubbish on my Cooper and I wanted a bit more bite. They may not be brilliant but any of the better pads at the time were at least double the cost. of the red stuff. So I got good braking with no fade. I'm hoping the Spiroslots will be the next level up and I've still got two more aggresive pads to go for too.

I will wait for the rear pads to wear out and then get the rear spiroslots.

Nice to hear the Batmobile doesn't need Major surgery & will be back in even better health

I'm getting just a little worried about possible problems with WOT in 5th & 6th, I admit to being guilty of this on occasion I've got a service coming up soon & am thinking of booking my Hartge into Birds, anything in particular I should ask them to check RG, & have you had dealings with them before? For piece of mind I'd rather they looked at it than my local dealer.

Cheers

I have had dealing with them but only a test drive years ago. Not been to them whilst I've had my car.

As I said before, speaking to Roland, WOT in 5th and 6th can kill any tuned MINI. However there are things that can be done to help prevent the problems ocurring.

TBH the only thing Hartge on my car is the pulley now. All they seem to change is the pulley, the map and the filter. Well I have a GTT Cold Ram Induction system. The map is not standard after a few other mods on top of the Hartge.

I personally think the contributing factors are possibly the map (to be established), the standard spark plugs should not of been in there for sure.

It would be intresting to see if they let there mechanic check your car at WOT in 5th and 6th
If you dont have any luck with them you can book it on our dyno where we can run at WOT while checking the fueling.

If it is lean we have a fuel rail with JCW 380cc and a fuel rail with 440cc though you shouldn't need that one.

We also have a GRS IC we can use on customers car if they so wish to know what they can gain.

Yes please do come and have a chat , we have just made 220whp which is 23whp more than we did before still with a one ball which I believe is now holding us back .

In theory we should be in the 12s this weekend without nitrous .

I think it was more luck than judgement

Mind you if I hadn't of turned the drum and bass down I may have never realised there was something wrong with the engine
