Well the Batmobile is back on the road thanks to Roland fitting it in between his turbo conversion

In the end it looks as though the mapping was ok. I will monitor for any pinking in the mean time. Personally I think the spark plugs were the cause so I now have a set of NGK Iridium's in there.

So I've now got a JCW 210 head, JCW injectors, GTT Idler Pulley, GTT Shorter Belt and GTT Spiroslot discs and Stage 1 pads.

Roland also secured my Aero Bumper that was only held on by two bolts I need a new one as the speed bumps have taken their toll on it.

Nearly had a Friday 13th disaster on the way home. Had to do an emergency stop soon after I started home. It was only about my 5th stab of the brakes that were no where near bedded in yet. Unfortunately the rears, that were not replaced, gripped pretty well with the same affect as pulling up the handbrake. The car started to rotate, which luckily I caught and still managed to stop in time. Phew!

So I gave it a good run home and all seems well. Perhaps a little smoother than before I gave it to Roland especially at the top end. Could just be the placebo effect though. Time will tell.

So thanks to Roland once again. Thouroughly recommended.

Belated commiserations

But glad to hear that you are back up and running!

This whole WOT in 5th and 6th certainly kerbed my driving when I last popped over to Germany.

The car sat at 110mph on the Autobahns quite happily, although I did hit the rev limiter in 5th on my way round the Ring a couple of times (I was busy trying to avoid an R1 at the time). Luckily I got away with it, but it's not something I plan to do again as the abrupt nature of the limiter unsettles the car a bit which is to be avoided through Schwedenkruez!

Incidentaly, did your recovery to Blandford, the JCW head and injectors actually work out cheaper than paying main dealer rates for standard fix?

S

Glad to hear the Batmobile is back on the road RG, hopefully the new brakes have bedded in nicely by now

On reading this thread it got me worrying as well, as my car requires a service I've booked up with 1320autos to service the old girl & also check things are OK on the rolling road at the same time.

Wot will be resumed when it gets a clean bill of health.

Probably about the same I would think and as Roland spotted a couple of other things needing doing too was well worth it. Doubt BMW would have spotted them tbh.
