DIY Engine Revs When Take Foot Off Gas

First, I know very little about cars.

Second, I am driving a 2006 mini (non-s) automatic.

Third, here is what is happening. When I am driving at about 70 mph my RPMs are around 3,000. When I take my foot off of the accelerator, and the car slows to about 65 mph, the engine revs to about 4,100 RPMs. It does not do this at any other speed.

Took it into the dealer today and they called to tell me that they have to call Mini to figure out what is going on.

What do you folks think, and is it bad? Thanks in advance.

I would guess the car is automatically selecting another (lower) gear and therefore the revs are altering to match this gear.
