I tried to spot someone with a similar thread on my problem but with no joy, so here goes:
I am the owner of a 2003 Mini Cooper S and I have had it since new.
Whilst driving yesterday, all of a sudden all three yellow warning lights simultaneously came on and stay on permanently until the engine was switched off and left for a while. These lights indicate a problem with the ABS, Run Flat Indicator and ASC.
I tested the car on the road to see what the status of the ABS and ASC is when these three lights are on. It is apparent that the ABS is still working and the ASC is off as I am able to wheelspin. The tyres are all at the correct and same pressure so there is no reason for the Run Flat Indicator to be on, and there is no puncture.
This happens every time I have taken the car out since and it also sometimes clears itself whilst driving. There are no red lights or any other warning lights on. Just these 3 working in unison.
The car is now out of warranty, so I am not keen for the Mini dealer to charge me to try to diagnose the problem without me first seeing if anyone can help... Has anyone experienced this problem with their Mini or have any idea if it may be a sensor failure or electrical short?
Sounds like it could be an electrical glitch but either way to be honest you need to get it to someone with diagnostic equipment. Mini Dealer or someone like Lohen.
It's not worth messing with when it comes to things like brakes - It could be dangerous for you and others on the road.
Try a software reset first. This can be done either through the hidden menu in the speedo: Details of how to access this are in the FAQ under Interior and In Car Entertainment and How to show RPM, Fuel Level, Speed and more on your Odometer Digital Display.
Or disconnect the battery for a few minutes. This eliminates any sort of software weirdness.
I too have the exact same problem. I called a friend at the mini dealer, and he said it's the wheel speed sensor or what Roni said...the steering angle sensor too. Have to go to the dealer to reset the faults, or he said to me to try driving in a straight line, and quickly turn the engine off and back on again. That sometimes help fix it. I'm going to do that tonight and see. Just in case it doesn't work. I ordered the "R5/EMX, Fault Code Tool". It will be nice to have for later.
if you have a problem with speed sensor you have to replace it,,,,,,,,,,and clear fault
and if you have a problem with steering angle you have to replace it too,,,and re code L.E.W. and align the steering angle sensor thru the gt1 ,,,,,and reset fault memory,,,,,,,,,
I wish it was that simple. I hate to have to rely on the dealers to fix my problems. I tried resetting it by driving and turn off the engine and turn it back...it worked for awhile, but it came back. I guess there is no real simple to doing the fix.
Well, I have no choice! The car is booked in to Mini for a £150 diagnosis. Bet the fix is 3 times that cost ontop. Looks like the extended warranty would have been worth it , shame I thought I wouldn't have a problem and didn't purchase it. Oh well, needs must .

Just a follow up for those of you who gave advice and those who may have a similar problem. It was a fault with the passenger front ABS sensor. This has been replaced at a cost of roughly £83 by Mini. They said there was nothing that caused the problem, the part can either last a lifetime or suddenly become faulty...!
