Question Should I let garage have a go at fixing rattles?!

Hi,

How successful are MINI garages at sorting rattles under warranty? Do they manage to fix them or make them worse?

The warranty runs out on our Cooper's 3rd Birthday on the 18th June and we've had a problem with the driver's window, so we're taking it into Williams in Manchester, but I mentioned the dash and seat belt adjuster rattle to them and they said they would take a look.

Is it worth the risk as these rattles are only presenty on bumpy roads, and I don't want it made worse?!

Cheers.

if you wait until the warranty runs out you'll have to pay to get them fixed.

If you let the dealer attempt to fix them now and they manage it all is good.

If you let the dealer attempt to fix them now and they make things worse it's their fault and you can keep getting them to do it until they get it right. Then all will be good.

I'd get them to do it if I were you!

But is it possible to have a rattle free MINI?! We've got 17" alloys which probably don't help - and from reading on this forum I get the felling they could be a "design feature".

A rattle-free MINI is a pretty rare thing, but it's certainly not a design feature!

Again, if it was me, I'd want to have as few rattles as is possible without having to pay to cure them.

I have just this second got my car back from BMW as the dash was rattling.

They took it apart twice and 'fixed it'......it still makes the same damm noise!

It sounds like the noise selotape makes when u pull it away from something, but is only present when u go over bumps!

Thumbs up

Well I did it - and to be honest I'm pleasantly surprised with the service department.

They seem to have sorted the dash rattle (padding), and the seatbelt adjuster rattle (greased) and they fixed my window issue without an arguement, all under warranty.

I now have quite a quiet mini! Just wonder for how long!

Cheers.
