Question gear linkage fix done -- anyone else's odometer and clock changed?

I got the gear linkage fix (a few clips, etc.) done today. Before sending it in the service consultant and I checked the mileage (well, km'age) and it was 6606km. When I picked up the car it was 6604km!!! The clock said 7AM too and it was actually around 5PM (oh, and it was 24-hour mode, not AM/PM).

I know they take the battery out for this fix which must be the cause of both changes but I'm wondering if anyone else has had the clock left unset and the mileage changed? I didn't think the mileage would reset with the battery removed -- sounds like an easy way to make sure the car retains is 'value'. Not setting my clock was just plain sloppy and if they were going to reset the odometer, they could have set it right. My service survey will reflect on it... (they didn't call me when it was done again either).

Luckily all other settings (that I've tried, anyways) seem to have been retained. The radio presets must have a battery backup as they were saved along with my speed sensitive volume setting (6).

They washed the car and put some tire cleaner on, some of which sprayed onto the black fenders (guess it didn't dry before it was moved). Sigh...

Oh well, I'm just glad the fix was done before I had a problem with the linkage.

Same thing with my clock Harry. Didn't notice the odometer after the service, but I did have occasion to disconnect the battery some time ago and the odometer did lose 2 kilometers when the battery was reconnected.

I did not notice the clock had changed but the trip odometer had been re set(zeroed). The prat who did the job failed to fit the lid flush to the battery box.

Thanks, guys. I feel better knowing the battery removal subtracts 2km. Still sloppy of them not to reset my clock and the service consultant actually mentioned, as they all do in a very patronizing way, that they want to get 10/10 on the survey! Ask and ye shall not receive...

My battery lid isn't flush either, sigh again... Ray, did you fix this up yourself?

Had a go at trying to replace the lid properly but had no luck-would appear I would have to start messing about with the ECU to make a proper attempt to make everything fit properly.I will wait until the car goes in for its gutter trim repair and complain then and hopefully get the job done correctly. Its depressing to see that the "technicians" on either side of the Atlantic cannot carry out a simple job.
Cheers,

Unhappy

Yes, it is very good to know that wherever you go, the quality of service is consistent

I'll call them Tuesday (Monday is a holiday here) to ask about the battery box lid -- my oil service won't be for another 9000km unless the computer starts ticking the kms to service down a lot faster. I'll report back on what happens.
