| My drivers side window stopped working about 2 weeks ago, now my passenger side window is doing the same. I've also heard that the heat may be a factor as well. Yesterday I tried banging by the speaker and no difference, this morning while it was still cool I tried the toggle and the passenger side window worked but not the drivers side. Now that it has heated up again neither are working! Sheesh...wonder if I should just wait for winter or bite the bullet and get both motors replaced.? Anyone else replaced the motors? approx. how much am I going to have to pay? Should I only take it to the dealer (no longer under warranty) or can I go to my family mechanic? Thanks! |

| Same problem but window down Any other suggestions apart from the banging the door. As didnt work. If the window was up i could get away with it, but at just gone midnight i dont really like the idea of leaving the window open in the street overnight. Ive tried disconnecting the battery and resetting with no joy either. any suggestions would be greatly appreciated as sitting out with the car doesnt seem particularly appealing. thanks in advance. |

! I'll have to remember that one! |

Giving the door a good thump worked for me, but i noticed that when winding the window up and down it was jumping (sticking) so i pulled the door card off again and sprayed the 'runners?' with a bit of lubricant, now the windows works smoothly. time will tell if dirty 'runners' was the problem. i do have another problem now.....my central locking doesn't work on that door now so now i've got more searching to do to try and fix that.... |

| Hi there, My passenger side door window is stuck in the up position. Just going to go and thump the door and see if this works. Seems like a common problem and BMW tried to scare me off having it done under warranty stating that if it is the regulator it won't be covered. Just for anyones info ------- my battery died for some un known reason a while back and after four garages and nearly a new battery some wise **** mechanic replaced the earth bolt and it started straight away. Apparently the rust was stopping the system being completed!?!?!?! All the best Tim |

| My cooper 55 plate drivers window has just stopped working too and is stuck in the up position making it hard to close the door without a big gap at the top. Hitting the door hasnt worked this time unfortunatly!! Has anyone found a way to close the door from the inside whilst window is knackered? It has been booked in at main dealer next Thursday for its oil change and they are going to sort at the same time. Is it covered under warrenty if it needs a new regulator? Car done just over 40k.
