picked up my works conv coopers s on weds and iv noticed it is making strange intemitant whiney horn type noise at various revs, not power steering or charger! happens even on low low revs without turning wheel.
coming from box marked works to left rear of top of engine....... having health check at bmw/mini in morning but any ideas?

but ive located the problem- being the pcv valve hose was collapsing and making the hooting noise!
