I'd take it to the dealer, assuming it is cherished you should have a 12 month (?) warranty if its broken.

not cherished but does have 12 warranty

was just wondering what might cause a ABS failure but no warning light has had a brake fluid change last week could this be a problem if not done right?

warning light does come on then goes out as would be expected if it was working ok, but this morning tested it again and ABS fired then locked up and back end tried to come round rather scary. took it i to dealer and they said no fault was showing so they will investigate and in they cant solve it they will take it to bmw mini to get it checked out .

anyone any ideas what it might be??

Something is pretty desperately wrong with the ABS ECU, it should be self diagnosing faults like this and lighting up the fault light. Normal protocol is any fault with ABS should shut the system down and let it operate like a car without ABS. How many miles has your car done?

the car a 2001 done 55K so average for the age

it now going to BMW mini as the mazda place i got it from could find nothing wrong.

if they can sort it then ok but if they say there nothing wrong, then i think its on to independent inspectors and poss to court.

if they'd get in the car with me id show them the problem but health and safety wont let them.

update from BMW mini say they can find no electronic fault and believe it the rear brake calibers sticking so are going to replace them.

does this sound correct to you guys.

Could well be, and would explain no ABS light coming on.
