| Beware that although the MCS takes any group 47 battery, only certain group 47s drop right into the MC without shimming under it and modifying the hold down bracket, and the online application guides aren't always right about which fit and which don't. Here's a relevant thread, followed by an excerpt from it (geared for the USA market, may not jive with what's available in your neck of the woods): MINI COOPER :: North American Motoring - Replacement battery options for MC It's said that these batteries don't fit the MC: Sears Die Hard International #33347 Everstart (? model # - made by Johnson Control) Everstart 47-3 plus made by Exide - one person said it fit and one said the restraining bracket doesn't fit without modification. Interstate MT 47-3 plus Optima 34R Krager Auto parts (? which model) Bosch (probably 47-590 B) Duralast 47-DL Autocraft #471 Titanium These batteries are said to fit the MC: NAPA Legend #7547....600 CCA, ? | This is helpful information. I can attest that the Bosch 47-590B does not fit off the shelf. I had to modify the battery box by cutting the rear side down about 3/4" where the negative cable leaves the box and cut the terminal slot deeper in the rubber hood at the positive terminal. For anyone without the special close quarters saw it takes, the battery will not fit without pulling the whole box and whacking on it. By the time I got the derned thing all the way home and tore the car apart, then realized thre terminals were 3/4" lower than the original, I was determined to cram it in there. |
