West Yorkshire/Leeds/Huddersfield Mechanics wanted.

I'm having another car problem. Coolant leak which I thought would just be a leaky pipe. Let the backstreet garage over the road from my work look at it yesterday and he has diagnosed it as a radiator fault. A job he will charge me £250 to repair. Have rung Scotthall and Almondbury and they have both quoted £360 for a radiator swap.

The problem I have is I would like a second opinion and dont necessarily want to go to the dealers. I want a decent BMW or MINI specialist who I can trust with my pride and joy. Only I cant seem to find one on google searches or on yell.

I live in Headingley in Leeds but work in Heckmondwike which is roughly halfway between Huddersfield, Leeds and Wakefield. I have eyed a place in Headingley which is approved by the BP Good Garage guide and they have had a classic and a MCS outside before which I think is a good sign.

Can anybody recommend any more garages who might be able to offer advise I would be confident in or should I just go to the dealers?

There is a couple in Hudds, one that I've forgotten the name of though I can tell you exactly where it is. Take the A629 Wakefield Road out of Huddersfield, following signs for Wakefield, you will eventually pass a Fitness First on your right, take the next left, Tandem Way, and there is a MINI BMW specialist down there.

I've also found this one, Bavarian Motor Warehouse - bmw specialist - bmw spares, bmw parts, bmw servicing, bmw dismantlers didn't know they existed, but they are a bit nearer for you, just off Leeds Road, past the Honda garage but before the Volvo one

Cheers mate, I have spoken to Neil there and am going to pop in on my way home. Hopefully they will inspire some more confidence than other places.

The amount of probs my mcs has had recently I need a decent garage to take it to.

Ok, they were excellent.

Got there about 2pm, with an 80mile drive ahead of me. Its always confidence inspiring when alongside your usual BMW's from the last 10 years, there is an X5 and a 06 Range Rover. They looked at it straight away, ordered me a part and then quoted me cheaper than everyone else. Whilst "Ish" drove me to a coffee shop in Huddersfield "Rob" started stripping down the car whilst waiting for the part. Part was due at 4pm so I bought Top Gear's Isle Of Man special and had a little drink. I'd barely flicked through the magazine looking at the pictures looking for places I know when I got rung up to say someone was on their way back into Huddersfield to pick me up. By 4pm I was back at the garage, job done and a few extra bits like Oil levels and Anti Freeze. Very Happy, very fast and the guys were all friendly. A definite recommendation.

I think I'm going to ask Almondbury to bring forward my next TLC because of the few probs i've had in the last 6 months and then have Bavarian Motors do the remedial work if there is any.

Thanks for this guys, i was looking for somewhere reliable to take the mini. I'd definetly recommend Bavarian Motor Warehouse. I paid them a visit after reading this

I bought the jcw brake kit for my r53 and they wanted 200 labour it took me less than 2 hours to do with a mate so from my experience I can't say they are cheap but they were friendly

To be fair if they were unsure of the job and didnt realise it was only a couple of hours they might have over specced.

Next time I'm in I will mention it.
