just purchased an 03 mini cooper, and i looooooooooooove it, black with a check roof, got it private, now for some unknown reason since I have bought it, the drivers door central locking system has now stopped unlocking when i press the button, tried pressing it twice etc, no good, it will lock, when you press the remote, and when you operate the door lock all work correct, I am annoyed, can any kind person help me out ?
sorry, can't offer any advice or help because it's recently started happening to the passenger door on my 03 MC too. was hoping someone else here had seen it happen and knew what was involved in fixing it - must be very frustrating for you on the drivers side, at least i only make use of the passenger door once or twice a fortnight
I have a similar problem right now with the drivers door. Trunk and passengers door work fine with the remote (lock and unlock) and the drivers door will lock with the key or the central lock switch but will not unlock. My car was in the shop for a aux fan problem ($1000 to fix) and they took a look at the door "for free". I was told it it would be $500 to replace the door lock mechanism on the drivers door.... I will just use the key for now and see if I can replace the lock myself.
Trust not the heart of a man for whom old clothes, and the Mini, are not venerable!
i just had my mini MOT'd and i mentioned the problem with the central locking in case they needed to access the car from the passenger door. they said it was probably the locking motor but i didn't dare to ask them how much it'd cost
looks like i'll be saving up for a bit then
My passenger side door had the same problem. Will lock but won't unlock. I tried taking out the fuse to possibly reset the computer, and then the whole thing broke. Only could unlock my driver's side door afterwards.
I was told it's the solenoid actuator. I had to replace the passenger door's actuator. Part costs about $80 dollars, but at dealer it'll probably cost about $450 installed. However, the power door lock still didn't work afterwards. I had to then disconnect the car's battery (negative terminal) for five minutes, reconnect it, start the engine (but don't touch any door lock switches) for five minutes, then use the key to manually lock the door from the outside. Afterwards, everything worked again. Hope this helps.
I have just changed my passenger dor lock inside the car if you are a competant mechanic do it yourself if not get someone who knows it is a lot of hassle to do, my 52 plate cooper passenger door stopped locking and unlocking using the key fob but i could unlock it by pulling the door handle inside to get out. the whole door locking mechanism cost me £49.00 + vat from BMW i have got a good link to look at to show you step by step how to remove the door trim and components, i hope this helps www.jwardell.com/mini/hkdoor
experiencing trouble with central door locking on mini cooper, passenger side, seems by reading other comments its probably lock which is is cheap to buy but tricky to fit? Any ideas?
