DTC code P0456 and P1692

Hello,
I've bought a used mini 2003 and everything is fine...
However after 3 weeks, the engine service light has turned on saying it needs a service.
I bought a cheap OBD2 reader, the the diagnostic code returned is P0456, which is "Evaporative Emission Control System Leak Detected (very small leak)"

Has anyone experience this fault? What does it mean ?

Also, DTC code P1692 is showing up....Any idea of that this means?
I'd hate after a few weeks owning the car, that it now turns out to be a lemon.

there's a little pipe coming out of the top of the rocker cover on the left hand side of the engine. Squeeze it. if it's soft and gooey then it's knackered if not then it might be time to invest in a DTC book.
