A/C Noisy Fan

I’m curious who has automatic AC and notices a fan running when the AC is off. This would be the case even when the engine if off and the key simply turned to the first detent (accessories). Mine never made a noise until recently and its frequency is excruciating in the same way as a Chinese water torture. It sounds like a buzzing speaker but comes from a vented passage at the foot well area of the center console. The Mini service writer says its odd and other Mini’s with auto air I’ve been in didn’t do it. The Mini shop foreman will not repair under warrantee.

Air Con Update

How do 33 viewers of a specific post not have a single comment either way on a topic inquiry? Update: Spoke to the shop Forman who earlier had listened for the sound with the door open and engine running. Now, with doors closed and everything off, the buzzing sound was clearly evident (his words: “That’s loud!”). New A/C components now ordered and warranted.

I may have a similar sound with the fan on my manual climate system. The fan makes a high pitched, constant, annoying high pitched squeeking sound that is most evident when you turn the fan speed to "0" (due to the fact the noise then stops).

I suspect it is the fan motor? Is this what yours sounded like?
