Seat height adjuster jammed

hi, my drivers side seat height adjuster seems to be jammed, so it won't adjust the seat up and down, it was working up untill today.
has anybody had the problem? or know how to fix it? as i don't want to take it to a dealer and be charged stupid money, i would rather leave it , i do work at a garage part time so will see what they say, i am presuming it is something jammed in the rachet mechanism, so am going to see if i can have a look inside it maybe

update: managed to get it to adjust by forcing it a bit, it has free'd it up very slightly so that it adjusts, but it is quite stiff and the seat doesn't go as high or as low as the passenger seat

Hey there, this happened to me recently. I was pulling on the handle and I heard a snap. It then jammed. You can only move it by pushing really hard.

Luckily my car is under warranty, they replaced the driver side seat frame assembly, which I would imagine is worth quite a bit.

Check on the realoem website to see the associated parts and try to order them with bmw, if you know how to fit them it will be easy to sort.

Has had too many minis

Hi aml - any joy on this? A similar thing has just happened on my wife's 52 plate Cooper. The seat will adjust upwards but not down - the lever is solid when I try and feels like something could well snap if I really force it. It's positioned fine for her but virtually undriveable for me, unless I adopt a position like Quasimodo!
