washer jet problem

3 weeks ago my 2002 MCS showed signs of a faulty rear screen wash container/bottle thingy. Filled it up but nothing came out of rear screen jet. Checked for leak, pump was working and no leak, but still no water. 2 days later, alarm starts going off, followed by interior lights and sat nav staying on and windows randomly going up n down at all times of day. Phoned Sytner as its still under warranty and told them, but went on holiday 20th Dec for 2 weeks and was told to phone when we got back. Removed interior bulbs and then decided to disconnect battery before we left and put car in our garage for 2 weeks. Phoned as soon as we got back to book it in but since getting back off hols its been ok.....still filled both water bottles and no water coming out of jets but everything else seems to be normal, no lighs coming on or alarm going off or windows going up n down. I'm just concerned that theyre gonna think I'm some dilluded old woman and theres nothing wrong with it, but I know there is. Anyone heard of this problem?

One thing to check is the wiper arm cover. Mine came loose (it swivels away from the glass to allow access to the nut) and blocked the fluid from going up onto the window.

The nozel on the rear blocks very easy. a pressure washer onto it from inside and out often clears it up and starts it working. however the other option is a leaking pipe thats spewing water out and this is somehow getting to the BCU (which controls the alarms and windows etc). The BCUs in the MINI were notorious on earlier models for faults caused by damp/water ingress.

Don't panic as they can often just dry out by themselves and work fine, just need to find the leak if there is one. May just have been a blocked rear nozzel and an unfortunate coincedence

Good luck

Cars all fixed The washer jet was blocked even though hubby had put a sharp needle in it at home Not covered under warranty so cost me £2.90 (meanies!!)

The body module had to be replaced, which was covered by warranty (thank God!) at a cost of £322.07

Whilst it was in Sytner they replaced 2 brackets/rubber mounts of both control arms (think he called them suspension brushes, but not sure) at a cost of £181.50 also covered by warranty thank God again! Why would they look at these when the car went in for another reason??

They said that there was no leak from the washer bottles and no way had water got into the system, but still no explanation as to why I had to fill my bottles up daily as they were always empty

All thats wrong now is that the car memory is not how it was, as the module is factory set. I used to have to press the key twice to open passenger door/boot and also it locked several seconds after pulling away. Just got to take it in when passing, takes 10 mins to get it changed. One thing that is different is that I can now close/open the windows and sun roof with the key, which I didnt have before

So far I'm happy
