Power steering

Hi ,
My Mini Cooper S (Dec./2003) , had power steering total failure. I would like to know if anyone as had this problem. Thank you.Regards

England power steering

i have had some problem with steering on my mini 1 but have been told that it is not a fluid system but electrical and will cost apprx £500 to repair is this right

It is a fluid system but the pump is driven by an electric motor rather than the engine. It is not a full electric system as used on many other small cars today.
It will cost about £500 to repair but can be done cheaper DIY if you are familiar with working on cars. If you do a search on here all the info you need to do the job has been posted.

As has already been stated there are many threads on this issue. The important thing to note is that if your car is not high-mileage and not too far out of warranty, push for some good-will from BMW.
