Haha, I wish!! I would have thought you'd have to run anything in that drives the car itself? Maybe I'm wrong though?!

I'm onto my second gearbox and third clutch in my MINI ONE.

When my gearbox was replaced, I took it gingerly for the next 1200 miles or so. I figured, when running it, it can't just be the engine that's getting run in, surely the gearbox benefits from a gentle introduction? And I want the new gearbox to last - so I took it easy and repeated the car's gentle run-in process as if new.

Better safe than sorry - eh?

All the best,
Andrew.

Run it in as if it were a new car

Take it easy for the first 500 miles, keeping below 4000 rpm. Then after 500 gradually start building the revs up through the gears. Until after about 1000-1200 miles, you're using full throttle and pinging off the red line as per usual

Update

Got the car back today, feels a bit ropey but I guess that's just the start of the running in process. Hopefully I'll do 1000 or so good miles before Top Gear Run
