Question Needle sitting to the left of thermostat

My car went in for a service in December and from what I can remember, the needle for the thermostat(?) always sat in the middle, from my view as the driver. Since it has come out, the needle sits to the left, it's in the middle when you look at it head on, but you have no idea how frustrating this is, it just sitting to the left of the middle, when it used to be in the middle.

So I phoned Bavarian and they had it in yesterday all day, used a quarter of a tank of petrol but told me the thermostat housing was cracked and that they'd fixed it,drained and refilled the coolant, that's great Miss Martin, it's under warranty.

But that's neither here nor there, yesterday driving home from Bavarian the needle is STILL sitting to the left. So no change, despite replacing things for me,perhaps they put different coolant in,for winter? And see where the heater is...the numbers 1 and 2 are dimmer than the higher numbers on the dial, is this normal? Mine is a 2006 Mini One.

So my question, what way does the needle sit when you look at it from your driving seat, and ...do the lower numbers in your heater appear dimmer?

The needle on my temperature gauage sits slightly left of center. You only need be concerned if it starts to rise.

I purchased a Scangauge so I can check the actual temperature:

Very strange..... maybe they updated the software on the ecu? hmmm certainly strange. Mine sits slightly left of the middle all the time from the drivers view. But from experience the needle doesnt actually tell you much. When the car is about to overheat it will suddenly shoot right up.

Double check your oil too
