DIY MOT Failed-Auto Adjusting Headlights

Hello,

Any advise for me.... Failed my MOT today at my local mini dealer. because of a wire missing from the auto leveling headlight sensor meaning that they were always pointing down. The dealer tried to adjust them manually to pass but still failed. They want an hours labour (ish) to find the wire by removing the airbox plus vat etc, but they say that even if they find the wire, with it being missing from the sensor it may have let water in causing the sensor to fail anyway. Just wanting to know is it a job i could do popping the wire back in and fitting a new sensor if it has failed, any pics of one etc would be great to get me started of where to locate it and the wire?

Thanks Karl

Had a poke around last night and by just turning them off and on a couple of times whacking bits and bobs i seem to have freed something up as now i get the sound of a motor driving and they do auto level, still sound rough though. Im sure Stevie Wonder was on the design team for my car ! :-)
