Supercharge lag!!!!!

i've got a 53plate cooper s with a couple of mods to the engine,

bluefin
15% charger
pipercross filter
mini sport twin exhaust cat back system

recently i have been getting like a turbo lag felling even though its supercharged,
in fourth gear and above its taking ages to pick up some boost and get going, and as you can imagine its so annoying when you cant even keep up with a 1.poo corsa on the motorway. aarrgghh.

can anyone help and let me know what it could be.

thanks

My guess is you've lost boost, possibly a leak across the supercharger. Commonest reason is a leak on the intercooler rubber boots.
You need to monitor your boost pressure really. There should be NO lag, if you use the gearbox correctly.

At least I think that is what I would check first.

could it be a faulty bluefin map? can't be if the problem is recent and bluefin was fitted a while ago, loss of boost seems most likely

Above are some good suggestions to try but also a dodgy bypass valve possibly aswell.

Best to start with checking for any boost leaks then go from there if your belt isnt slipping.

Is it slower generally or only slower to pick up in higher gears?

I'm betting on the belt.... Do you have any of the hole showing on the tensioner arm? If it isn't, you need a new belt. Mine was only on for a year and was stretched to the point I was losing power. I put a smaller belt on and all is well.

Generally 12,000 miles you should renew your pulley belt, as da flake say check the little tag on the tensioning arm if this is all the way in your belt needs replacing. The belt will be the cheapeast fix so id replace it anyway after being on for 2 years

Wouldnt the belt be slipping more in lower gears though instead of higher gears? The revs climbing slower in higher gears and all that. Certainly check it if you havent recently.... dont want it to break from not being changed recently enough.

I would think that the belt would slip generally as soon as you apply the throttle on the initial change in speed in crank and S/C ( I would think that it would happen in any gear imo).

This is what was happening to me. As soon as I applied throttle the car was slow to respond to the change. A new belt and all that changed.
