Convertible broken roof cable

Hi, has any one else had a problem recently with a roof cable breaking on a 2004 Conv?

Mine went last weekend, drivers side got stuck, only left side was moving. Took it to my main dealer on Friday who told me the cable had broken and I have to have a whole new mechanism which is at least 8 hours of labour and as they had spent two hours pulling my roof apart to work out what is was I had no option but to tell them to continue, oh and it would be at least £1300

It's just over 4 months out of warranty and I am gutted.

Found a couple of older postings but not sure how widespread problem is, this doesn't seem like something that should be going wrong.

mine went & i had it done under warranty also one of the rams failed . It would be nice to know if there are any other garages out there who can carry out work on thr convertible roof system incase i have any new issues
