I have the same rattle from the passenger door that seems to be coming from the deflector but I gave up and try to ignore it. The dealer said it was coming from the rear seatbelt and was fixed (THINK NOT!!!). I'm just hoping it will go away by itself

Re: Rattles Also the centre console seems to constantly creak too. Has anyone else had these probs? If so have they been fixed etc....... Regards, TC. [/b][/quote] Hi I've got the centre console creak too so if you figure a solution please can you email me and vice versa should I crack the creak before you do Other than that the cars a blast and as I have the s/roof open anytime there is no rain the racket that makes from 30mph+ easily drowns out the creaking console Take it you don't have the roof solution Too many freaks not enough circuses Tell a man that there are 400 billion stars and he'll believe you. Tell him a bench has wet paint and he has to touch it.

I too have the console creak problem. Still trying to find a more perminent solution other that shoving my finger in between the glovebox and the left console column or holding my left leg against the right console column. Grrrr.

I had a rattle coming from the passenger door and solved that problem by following a fellow posters advice about loosening the door panel screws slightly. Now I have a rattle coming from the piece between the glovebox and the passenger door. I haven't had time to investigate but I found if the passenger holds that piece it stops rattling. Perhaps the solution is to always have a passenger? I suppose it wouldn't be British if it didn't rattle and squeak. Mark 2002 MCS LY/B

..but no where nearly as bad as my Cooper did. ![]() I'm still debating about where to ask the dealer to try and sort it. When it comes to removing the dashboard things have a tendency to get worse before they get better.

Mine keeps gaining rattles but seems to gain 2 and lose 1 for some reason. The worst is to the right of the steering wheel underneath as I touched the dashboard underneath to try and see where it was coming from 2 pieces of rubbery foam dropped out into my hand as if the rattles where ther ebefore I picked the car up and they tried to rectify the problem before it went out. Never mind I'll send it in sometime next week to have various noises quietened hopefully

Has anyone had the rear hatch (boot) creak? It sounds like it's coming from either the latch or rubber snubber pads on the sides of the hatch. I've adjusted the hight of the snubbers with no help. Everything is tight and the hindges are good. Any suggestions? It just started this week and I haven't had a chance to get a passenger to look around while driving. ~tim EB/W MCS

TC, I have this problem on both sides, I thought it was the B pillars, but now I have found that if I pull the door handles in, the rattle stops, so It's going in next Thursday to be fixed. along with my squeeky suspension and other odd squeek under acceleration Andy DS Cooper S w/white bits, DSC, 1/2 Leather all black trim, CHILI Pack, TLC - ARRIVED 01/07/02 Sold 29th May 2004 to make way for house

I've sorted the creaky centre console problem by tightening the two star scews on either side of the silver columns, There was a little bit of play with each screw. Now I have NO noise from anywhere, apart from me screaming with joy that is !

Rear Boot Rattles I had the same problem with an annoying rattling coming from my rear hatch. I took the entire panel off and isolated the problem to the latch. I took it into the dealership and they fixed it by wrapping a piece of FELT TAPE around the bar on the hatch. A very ghetto fix, but it seems to have fixed it (for now). I orginally thought it was just because I wasn't closing the hatch all the way, so I slammed it really hard, but it never fixed it. Until one day, I pushed on the exterior panel to the left of the license plate when I closed it, that I actually dented the panel!!! I had to take it in and have a body shop pull the dent out! Ooops. I continue to have squeeks from my door trim and rattles from my front console. Makes my car sound like a cheap cracker box. |
