Angry Dashboard Keeps Flashing!!!

I start the engine and my entire dashboard keeps flashing with a beeping noise! Please can you advise.

Some lights of many keeps flashing are: EML, ABS (Yesterday), Airbag, water filter, Indicators (so i can't tell whether i'm indicating or not!), My speed-o-meter moves erratically from 150 to 0 and vice versa. There are loads more that keep flashing too. When all the lights keeps flashing it makes a beeping noise.

There isn't any problems with braking, accerlating, reving or driving but the lights keep flashing! We've held down the button on the dashboard where it runs into testing mode and if it says 60,000 miles on it then the only light that flashes is the airbag. all the other testing checks still makes all the lights flash.

I took it to a dealership and they say i might need a new dashboard but i can't exactly afford £120 per hour + the parts + VAT!

Any help will muchly appreciated.

It could be water has got into the body control module (BC1) in the driver's footwell and is causing all kinds of havoc. Is there any evidence of water down there?

Can the dealer really charge you for a replacement dashboard? Sounds like it's a fault, more than wear and tear to me.

Not sure what you can check without a laptop/diagnostic kit and easily too. If its not the dash them it could be the connection the internal network so is having problems communicating with the ECU and BC1. Check all connections you can atleast and for any water ingress

Mine did something similar. It was a short caused by a harness fretting against the body where the harness goes from under the windscreen into the wheel well through a grommet. In my case, the particular wire that was shorting was to an ABS sensor, so I intermittantly lost ABS, TCS, speedo, cruise control and other lights flashed. It was made worse by the symptoms only being present when the car was wet, i.e. the short was not made unless there was also water present. I guess if it was bad enough, then the short would have occurred at all times........

My dealer found it (after about 5 hours work), and repaired it. All is now OK.

It would be worth taking a look yourself, as you could end up with a big labour bill. My dealer only charged me for 1 hr labour.......they have a harness repair kit, so once found there's no parts bill.

HTH.
