Broken dipstick.

I went to check the oil level on my 53 MCS and the dipstick broke about 3 to 4in from the handle, I can see the rest of it still in the tube but couldn't remove it so had it recovered to my local BMWM dealership. What I'd like to know is weather this will be covered by the waranty? Or if it would be excluded as wear and tear?
I brought the MCS 3 weeks ago from the BMWM dealership the car has TLC and has done 35000.

Thanks.

Tyler.

it should be covered by the warranty....................a dipstick should last a lot longer than five years !!

Should be covered by warranty but even if its not i would kick up a stink because that should of been picked up on their inspections before it goes out as a cherished MINI.

Yes, they do have a string. I have the same problem, and the string broke as well (not much help...)

Murketts BMWM did all the work under warranty which was good. But their customer service sucked.

Mine has just broke now when I think my oil is low anyway. Have splashed some oil in but wasnt able to check if that had done any good.

Do we know if there is anything more robust than these OEM ones?
