Dash Board Rattle

HI THERE ALL YOU MINI FANS
CAN ANYONE OUT THERE WHO HAS HAD THIS PROBLEM SHED SOME LIGHT ANDHELP ME GET RID OF A RATTLE THAT I AM GETTING FROM THE AREA JUST ABOVE THE SPEEDO AND BEFORE THE MIDDLE THE WINDSCREEN VENT

What is the Build Date of your MINI?

Hi there. The rattle you describe sounds like a common mini rattle caused by the upper dash section. Do you have warrenty on this car? if you do take it to your dealership and have it fixed as it is a recognised problem. If not, this is whats happening: The top dash section slides onto 5 locating lugs. The two at the front (on either side of the speedo) are known to brake and rattle. To stop it you will need to remove the upper dash. Check the locators and if they are ok, fit anti rattle tape to all 5. This IS a big job and entails disconnecting an airbag. It will probably take you most of a day, i have done them before! You will need your brave face on! hope this helps,

Its A 2004 I Only Got It A Month Ago But The Garage Says The Years Warranty They Gave Me Only Cover Mechanical Faults

i think i too have a bit of a rattle my solution is to turn the radio up, cost effective and easy to implement

My R56 rattles... I find if I squeeze the rev counter unit it stops it... haven't had chance to get the dealer to sort it yet.

If you ask nicley and negotiate well I have know main dealers to take the dash out and apply tape/felt to stop the rattle.

Mine did it something terrible and one stage but I never bothered taking it back too many times as its not a real issue IMO. Plus having HK stero on nice and loud kinda helps me forget
