Dashboard center air vent grille question

I am new to the forum and Minis and of course I encountered lots of ratlles from the dashboard center grille area. I searched the forums for this and found lots of info but nobody is explaining how to remove the grille properly without breaking anything. Do you need any special tools? Thanx in advance, Joe

Hi Joe

I don't think you can remove this grille area as it seems to form part of the dash mould.

My Dad had a similar problem on his MINI, rattled all the time.

Apparently there is another vent behind the dummy grille on the centre dash. The local dealership had to remove the dash, relubricate the the vent below where it touched the dash and then replace the dash. Since then the rattle has disappeared.

This was all done under warranty, so you are probably better getting your local dealer to sort this out.

no warranty , it's got 148000 miles. I'll try myself to do it. Thanx.
