Thumbs down Windscreen bugs

Bit of a strange topic this one!!

I spent 2 hours cleaning and polishing my 2003 MCS today, to pop out down the road for 5 mins to my local Indian Restaurant to collect a take away. To find it getting covered in dead insects!

To be fair I live in the middle of the country side, but I find that my Mini gets coverd in so many dead insects that it looks awful straight away!

This has always been a problem for the front windcreen, as when you have an immaculate car you dont want to be using your washer jets which smeers all the bug juice around your windscreen! So i try to avoid it.

So my topic was just to see if other people have lots of dead bugs on their windscreens as I've never had this problem with other cars?

Or do you think they are attracted to the Electric Blue???

Colours can attract the bugs / flies etc... etc... (Yellow's one of the better ones for this)

It may just be your lifestyle:
  • Country side, loads of bugs etc...
  • Take-aways attract loads of bugs etc...
  • Possibly the colour of your MINI.
  • Speed & Motorway driving can catch loads of bugs etc...

It could've been the smell of the take-away that killed all the bugs that then fell on your MINI while you were in there .

We're exactly the opposite of the life style listed above and we don't have a bug problem (The MINI is Chili Red though ).

The MINI windscreens are also a lot steeper than other cars this could also be a contributing factor (splatting them rather than deflecting them ).

Destined to live life £5 behind. Disclaimer Any advice given is my opinion only, if you decide to act on any advice / info I've given, it's at your own risk!

Happens most of the time its warm, the bugs come out and then splatter on the windscreen.
Wouldnt say the Mini is any diffrent to other cars in the way it attracts them..

Splattered bugs absolutly do my head in, but i`ve found a neat and easy way to clean them off. Use aotuglym interoir cleaner diluted, spray on to bugs and leave a few minutes to soften but don`t let it dry out. then just wipe off with a wet sponge. No need to scrub your guts out. Happy days
