Clunking noise from underneath!

thanks for your advice on my rattles, got the car booked in next week at the dealer. will let you know of their findings.

back to the question above, does your MCS "clonk" when parked with engine running or after turning off. i'm sure its the exhaust just cooling down or expanding but it is very loud on my car!

comments? ..........

I've noticed the same clunking sound you mention. It occurs after the car is switched off and sitting in the garage. Quite noticable, but I figured it's the exhaust system cooling down. Other cars have had a more metallic sound than this one though.

Yea, I've noticed this before aswell. I just put it down to the exhaust cooling down.

I have just done a search for a clonk/squeek when the engine has just been turned off and found this old thread!
My OneD makes quite a defined clonk/squeek when I have parked it up, approx 20 seconds because I have time to get out and walk around the vehicle. I say clonk/squeek because it is a combined sound, e.g not one then the other, and it only does it once, and it takes exactly the same time to do it after turning engine off each time. If it were the exhaust, would it be more of a tinny sound, and wouldn't it do it more than once?
I think It sounds more like an electrical thing myself, a self check thing that the car is doing?(I don't know what) Is there any more info on this elsewhere?
