| For the wind noise, check the black plastic clip on windscreen pillar covers are secure? Early ones have been known to fly off at speed or when badly fitted after a windscreen replacement. If they are broken or damaged later ones were improved & can be fitted to cure the problem. If you do a search there are quite a few posts about them with more details. Also, are your side windows fully closing as the door shuts and are the door rubber seals ok? Welcome to MINI2 |

Fuel gauge. Secondly, my fuel gauge recently showed empty when i knew it was full, and then over the next 3 days it slowly crept up to show the actual amount. It has since done it once more. Most irritating .Other than these it is in really good condition, but my garage don't have any answers for me as to what is going on, and as neither issues happen all the time it is difficult for them to diagnose. Hence, i have joined your forum to ask of anyone else has had or heard of the same issues. Any help will be greatly appreciated. Cheers Chris xx[/quote] Hi Chris, I have just experienced the same fault with the fuel gauge on my `01 Cooper. I topped up the tank from 1/4 full to full, and when I started the car at the garage, the gauge went to empty and the red light came on. Going home that night, the gauge gradually crept up to just above 1/4 full over about 19 miles. Did you find any info about this? I suspect the sender units in the tank, and will check the wiring etc soon. Ray. |

Wind Noise Hi - re wind noise - similiar problem. My 3 year old Cooper S suffers at varying starting speeds 60 to 90 mph - garage examined 3 times and cannot find the cause. A seperate garage observed that it was a 'common' problem ! Any views guidance would be greatly appreciated. C |

| Wind noise finally sorted after costing £420! Turned out the windscreen needed re-sealing, however it cracked and so cost more as i needed new windscreen. Mine was apparently due to a chip right at the edge, so i guess a previous owner had the windscreen removed at some point. This chip then cracked up re-sealing and so the garage were not liable. Expensive, but i am so happy now i can drive as fast as i want with no horrible noise. As for the other lower pitch quieter wind noise - turns out that the filter under front of car gets serviced and quite often not done up properly. The garage did this up and now i no longer have to press the air re-circ buttin to get rid of that noise! As for the fuel gauge, mine has not done it again and the garage had no ideas about this. Thanks for all your replies tho guys, most appreciated. |
