My nav screen died this weekend. I thought it may have been related to the cold but no such luck. I am tkaing it to the dealer next week to see what they say.
Ayone have a clue yet as to what is causing this?

Mine still works fine the second time I drive the car for the day. I am beginning to think it has something to do with the temperature and or humidity. When the car is cold, it does not work. After the car has been warmed up and I have let it sit turned off, say 20 minutes, it works just fine.
Not really happy with a Navi that only works in good weather as I live in Germany where winter is setting in.

Seeing if there are any updates on this. I had the same thing happen this morning on the way in to work. You could tell the LCD was active but no NAV or computer. Drove it again later and everything was fine. It's just starting to get cold in these parts (upstate NY) and I too am wondering if it is related to that.
I've got Sat Nav in my MCS , but I havn't had problems as listed, however I had a Clarion Sat Nav in my Impreza Turbo , and that was slow to operaterate along the LED screen when ambient temperatures where low, the unit was under the passenger seat, screen to the side of the dash board. It was fine after the interior warmed up (5 mins).
I also I think this BMW syatem is inferior to the Clarion on facilities and general operation.

Did it again this morning. I have to take the car in next Tuesday so I will ask the service manager then if they have been getting other complaints of the same thing, or if there is a fix available. I'll post findings next week.
