Need an original 05 S pulley

I sold an 05 mini cooper to a friend in Canada and I was unaware that it had an undersized pulley. The engine blew and the dealer won't warranty it because it wasn't stock. Where do I get an OEM pulley and what would the stock diameter be?

Even if you get the OEM pulley, you are going to have a few problems. The first is that the OEM pulley is installed using a heat and I don't know of anyone that has successfully re-installed the OEM pulley. Secondly, they have probably made a note of the pulley in their records and thus will continue to deny coverage. Besides, what you are trying to do is deceiving. If you want to help, help cover the costs of repair.

At the end of the day the pulley alone should not cause the enigine to blow... There must have been other factors too...

I totally agree, but once MINI has denied warranty work, the possibility of getting them to move on it diminishes greatly.

The only thing you can do is take the car to an independant and try and prove it was not the pulley that caused the failure.

You're going to have a hard job though - at the end of the day, the vehicle has a modification to the engine aspiration system (i.e. supercharger) and the engine has failed prematurely.

No warranty then in US

We thought if we brought it back to the US it may be warrantied (especially with stock pulley). Should it not have warranty if the after-market pulley was any size or is there a tolerance at all?

After market pulley could cause problems. Once the car is in the system of having it, you will have a hard time getting it covered. I am afraid that you will have to find an independent mech to repair it.
