Central Locking Fault

Hi, can anyone give me some advice. I have just purchased a second hand Mini Privately and noticed that the drivers side door will lock wen the button on the key is pressed but it wont open wen the key is pressed. The passenger side and boot opens and it sounds like the mechanism is activating on the drivers door but doesn't actually open it.

To open the door I have to use the key but once open it locks fine with the remote.

Hi, i work on minis for a living and this is a common problem. You need to have the drivers door catch replaced. Only on a rare occation is the BC1 at fault. Start with the door catch.

Did you get a new door catch? If so where did you get it from & did it fix the problem?

I seem to have the same fault

Mine started doing this the other day... but only my passenger side door won't open with the key... yet when i open it by using the handle and then pushing the lock button it locks it? You know how you push the button on the key once to open the drivers side then again to open the passengers side... well its stopped opening the passenger side door on the 2nd push i wonder is it the same fault as it being the drivers door?

If the world didn't suck we'd all fall off!

United-Kingdom Central locking key fob locks but won't open doors ???

Hi, I have a similar problem, my doors lock with the button but will not open either the driver or passenger side with the button only the boot opens when i press the button, the toggle switch inside the car does not lock or open. I have to open my drivers door with the key and then lean over and unlock the passenger door by pulling the handle, which is a great pain. This problem started with just the drivers side being broken the passenger side used to lock and open with the key and it also used to lock when i started driving however, now its gone the same as the drivers side. Does anyone have this same problem and has anyone fixed it? I don't know where to start. Any help would be great!

What is the "door catch"?

I have the same problem with the passenger side and after doing some research, I've concluded that I need a new door lock acuator.

BMW wants close to $400 AUD so I'm just gonna keep my eye out at the wreckers for them.

Was buying something from the dealer, and they had a new door lock actuator in stock. Guy offered it to me for trade price so I couldn't say no.

Replaced the old one and it's all sweet now.

Central door lock faulty

Hi! I have a similar problem with the door locks. I have a brand new October 2009 Mini Cooper S Hatchback and in the past few days the driver's side door intermittently wont unlock . No luck even with using the key and flicking the central door lock toggle switch from the inside . The only way to open it was thru the inside round chrome door opener.
I brought it to BMW service centre the other day and they could't find any fault. However, I received a call today from BMW and wanted my car back to be looked at again. I'll keep you posted with the development.

I have a similar problem on my 05 convertable. Picked up a new remote key yesterday which due to a similar problem with the passenger door won't remotely unlock anything. The passenger door won't unloack with the key or toggle switch either, need to pull the inside door handle. BMW Springwood have booked it in for look next week. I seriously hope I'm not hit up with a $500+ bill, I've just spent $600 on the key!

Rotary Latch Module

The Rotary Latch Module is responsible for a whole host of problems with the locking systems. I was having problems with my alarm going off at all times of day and night, due to a faulty rotary latch module. I have also read numerous posts stating that the problem you guys are having is due to the module as well.

If anybody wants to replace the latch module themselves (and of course save money), then I posted a write-up of the procedure here: http://www.mini2.com/forum/first-generation-faults-fixes/177866-alarm-keeps-going-off-ive-had-disconnect-battery.html#post3754435
