DIY Power steering pump running after the MINI is turned off and flattening the battery?

As the title says, my 2005 MINI Cooper has just started doing this, I'm having to remove the battery cable to prevent it being fully discharged once its turned off!

I'm booked in with my local dealer for next Wednesday, but wondered if anyone else had experienced a similar problem, what the cause was, what the resolution was, and how much it cost to fix? In the meantime I'm having to share my hubby's Panda, not fun!

Very common problem, if you search the main power steering thread (link below) you will see ! Your PS pump has failed and will require replacement, can be expensive but if you follow the instructions from "Neurobeaker" in the thread mentioned you should get a "Goodwill" payment (at least for the parts) from MINI UK.
