Weeping Gear Box

Hello.

I have 2003 Cooper S with 59,000 miles on it and I have had it from new. I was underneath the car recently and noticed there appeared to be some oil around the bottom of the gear box. There has never been any oil on the road when I have left it parked for a long time so I am just wondering if this happens normally through time or if it is something to worry about.

When I found the same thing on my 01 cooper I took it to the dealers and they replaced the gearbox gasget and that seemed to fix the problem

How long did it take and what did it cost? I've got oil on the drive from underneath the left hand side of the engine, but it doesn't seem to be engine oil.
