Whistling and A/C link?

Hi all,

I have just got my car back from Scotthall for the second time as I hear loud whistling when driving. The first thing Scotthall did was readjust the passenger-side window (as the noise seems to be coming from that side). I got the car back and I noticed that it was still whistling so I took it back. This time they told me that it was the A pillar which they have replaced and now it has stopped whistling. So I take the car back, I notice the A/C is on when they give me the car back. When I drive back to work from picking the car up I turn the A/C off and I hear whistling again, which really aggravates me.

Anyway, I've now established a link between the A/C being off and the whistling. I have a Cooper Convertible Sidewalk with automatic A/C.

Does anyone know if this is normal or what it might be? I don't think it should be normal but who knows.

I thought I'd ask here before I go back to Scotthall because they might spend half a week trying to figure out what it is! Maybe someone here can help me help Scotthall...

Funny that Ben, over the weekend I noticed a light whistling noise when driving at 60 mph plus, so thankfully its not too often. I think I may have a leaf or somethinbg stuck in one of the inlets. I've known that to be the cause on other cars in the past

Thanks for that Streeters, I really hope it's something simple like that! Mine does it from 30 mph onwards (I've now discovered the link with the A/C so it must just happen every time my A/C is off, which as I said before is most of the time).

I don't know whether to take it in to Scotthall again or not :-/

I think I'm going to take it to a mate of mine who's a mechanic to have a quick look at and see if anything jumps out at him...
