Heated Washer Jets .... Frozen !

Hi,
Have a MCS 2003 with heated washer jets......
However the the jets remain frozen for a long while on cold mornings..... ( seems to be a fault )

How are the jets heated ? Does anyone know of known fault / problem with these ?

Thanks

Perm

You'll probably find it's the water in the tank/pipes that's frozen, not a fault with the jets. They may be heated, but not to a temperature high enough to melt frozen water backed up in the pipes that feed them.

From what I've been told they just heat the water as it exits the jets.
It does not guarantee that the rest of the system is liquid.
I've got them & I'm not sure how useful they are!

They don't actually heat the water that is sprayed onto the screen, they are only heated enough so that the nozzles themselves stay open.

What % mix are you using for the washer fluid?

As per Scrogg & Gristy. It's only the jets that are heated not the feeder pipe so I would suggest that this is frozen. To stop this freezing you need a strong water/screenwash mix. Mine froze last week, but a good glug of screenwash in the system means they haven't frozen again since thawing

mine do this even with heated washers and strong mix liquid that is supposed to be good to -10 or more! Its normal, takes me around 10 miles of driving before they warm enough of the pipes to spray in a useful way! The other day on the way home they worked fine standing still and car was not frozen up, then drove off 15 miles down the road and i spray to find they have frozen! so had to switch the defrost button on to warm them again

if your electric mitrrors work then the heated wahsers work.

One of mine was broken and the wingmitrrors packed in. Fuse after fuse. then I worked it out.......

Hope this helps.
