Heater blowing hot + cold / losing coolant

Hi,

I have a 2005 Mini Cooper with air-con.

The fan seems to blow intermittent hot and cold. Randomly, the heater will blow cold air even though temp set to hot.

The car has been drinking coolant for the last month or so. Prob at a guess, maximum down to minimum level every 2 weeks. Thought this might be an airlock but so far it's still drinking the stuff.

Any ideas on what is wrong with the car?

Ours was losing coolant (altho the heater was working fine) turned out it was the thermostat housing, all fixed under the cherished warranty

Ours is a 55 plate MCS with Climate control.

I had the same problem, air con randomly blowing hot then cold, despite the temp setting on the climate control! Also had an engine light come up on my dash that said the engine was overheating, even when started from cold.... Turned out I had a hole in the radiator so coolant was leaking! all sorted now! Phew!
