United-Kingdom Windscreen wipers

HI All

First post so here goes,
Have just bought a 2002 Mini One in very nice condition but the wipers seem to have a life of their own, they don't park at the bottom of the screen and the rear is the same. Is there a relay that controls them and is it that simple ?

Cheers all ...........Woody

First thing I would do is check fuses... sounds like the park feed to both motors is not there, most likely a blown fuse, worth checking before getting more involved.

Remember there are two fuse boxes in your MINI (pass. footwell and engine bay).

Is it purely a parking problem you are experiencing, i.e the wipers stop wherever you switch them off meaning you have to judge your 'off' time to park the wipers at the bottom of the screen, or are the wipers coming on at random times on their own accord?

No, the wipers will only come on when you turn them on its just that they stop wherever they want to.

Shouldnt be the wiper stalk then, I would definetly check all the fuses first, cos if it aint that, your gonna have to start testing wiring.

Apparently the problem has been caused by water ingress into the "Basic Module" possibly due to a non BMW windscreen being fitted in it's early life.
So the module is £231.00 plus a vehicle re-programme plus further investigation plus labour plus vat ....................£470.

So what is the Basic Module??
