Unhappy Dashboard light problems - please help!

Hi all, could anyone help with this strange problem.
Driving to work this morning and the Engine temp. needle flung itself from the middle (normal position) to the far left(suggesting overheating). It then keeps doing this - flinging itself from far left to middle and vice versa. When at the far left position the ABS and the Brake fluid light also come one, and the Run Flat Tyre light stays on. The speedo and rev counter needles also drop to zero.

Anyone had this prob? I dont think the car is overheating as the fluid levels are ok, and radiator seems ok.
Some sort of sensor or electrical problem i'm guessing?

Hello all, thought that i would give an update.
Took the car to a few garages including Mini Sytner, would all didn't know what was wrong and said they would have to do an engine dynanostic. However, i as the car stopped showing the faults after 2 days i thought that i would drive it for a while to see if anything happened. The car has been fine.
My conclusion (hopefully correct!) is that a sensor got wet or something similar, as it was chucking it down when the fault happened. And now that it's dried out the fault has gone away.
Dont know too much about sensors and electrical parts in a car, but does this sound like a probable conclusion???

Yes, as Chris says check your BCU and if it has a water shield fitted (pre-2003 MINI often don't)............
