Bottomed out Braking

I have a std MCS 02. Under braking, if I hit a pothole, bump in the road, small child... It feels like my brake pedal has shot through the bottom of the car and is using the metal shaft to brake instead! It only happens if the road is uneven, but I find it a bit weird becuase you shouldn't really get that kind of feedback through the brake pedal. Any ideas? I 'm not sure if the runflats are to blame, but I doubt it....?

Haha that introduction made me laugh . Maybe the feel is your ABS kicking in as you say it happens on uneven roads. Mine feels harsh when my ABS comes on, but this has only happened on dodgey roads (like the muddy edge of country roads).

Have you tested out the ABS under controlled condition?
I know that when I have to brake hard while turning over an uneven surface the ABS kicks in.
Many people never get to experience ABS in day to day driving and it is something everyone should become familiar with.

Cheers guys,

That was my initial thought so I did a few "controlled" emergancy stops, but it feels different to the ABS. The annoying thig is its hard to explain, it feels as it somethings broken...but obviously carries on working fine all resistance goes from the break pedal for a few splits. I think I may have to stop breaking on country roads/school run routes/outside vets

It is a very strange feeling when EBA (Emergency Brake Assist) takes over and then ABS kicks in.

When you hit the brakes very hard in an emergency and EBA kicks in, it feels like the peddle is moving away from your foot and then when ABS kicks in, it seems to move further and you get the juddering feeling back through your foot.

In Italy

Maybe it is then and when I tested the braking it just didn't re-create the same conditions. The long and the short of it is I don't like it! Just feels like Bolans broken. I had a hunch that it would be the case and I've just not experianced ABS/EBS enough to tell when it is or isn't in effect.

Its your abs.

When you stomp on the brake on an uneven surface or on one where the surface is slippery then the ABS comes on. The pedal feels like its gone to the floor and the brakes feel like they are hardly doing anything. You also get a thud thud thud knocking through the pedal as the brakes presses and releases. Its nothing to worry about unless you get a warning light stay on constantly on the dash after you have switched the ignition on and off 3 or more times.

You will often get it to stop if you let off the pedal and quickly press it again slightly more progressivly
