Just to say that I've experienced this on my car for the first time last night.... The thing is on mine (and from crashandburn's comments, think it's probably the same for him) it's not your normal inside the car type steaming up that the blowers fix really quickly.... it's a lot....well....wetter! It's more like the moisture you find outside the car on a dewey morning.... After sitting with my blowers on for a few minutes and nothing happening I eventually had to get my sponge out to clear it.... Anyway, taking it to the dealer today. Just wondered c&b - what happened with yours in the end? paul Black ONE - Salt Pack, Boost, CD Changer, ASC&T, 8 Spokes, Alarm and Glovebox Arrived 16/10/02 and I love it ![]() Driving lights, aero spoiler and some chrome bits to follow...

Anyone had any joy on this? I noticed last night that mine had this problem, it wasn't a mist over the windscreen, but big droplets! I don't thing the vents in the boot are blocked at the moment, because the back seats are out and so is the boot lining. Is this a dealer issue then? Dom

Have you guys checked around the floors for wetness? A few other people have reported having wet floorboards (one person claimed he had as much as a gallon of water on his passenger side floor, under the carpet). Water inside the car will evaporate and gather in droplets on the windshield, much like what you are describing. Best of luck, please keep us informed. PigLick

hmmm. when the dealer looked at it they couldn't find any problem. Typically that was in dry weather. But the problem has come back with a vengeance during this cold snap, exactly like purple56 says. I now carry kitchen tissue in my jacket pocket to mop up the windows, but thats of precious little use when the layer of condensation inside the windows (all of them) has become a layer of ice. There is no evident leak. The car does not feel wet inside. There are no damp tissues etc.. in the car. I thoroughly dry the windows each time I get in. I use the heater in various settings to ensure the interior is dry. Mats / my feet included. The heater is not on recirc. I then reset the blower to cold air and crack open the windows to vent the moist warm air, replacing it with cold dry air. The outside temp is <0'C (i.e. low humidity). The seals appear to be intact. There does not appear to be a stale air vent. I'm stumped. I'll see if my dealer is.

I strongly suspect that this is associated with moisture being brought into the car rather than a leak. Anytime we have snow I notice that I get FROZEN condensation on the inside windows for a few days or until I have a really long highway run where everything gets fully warmed up. The snow comes in on shoes/pant legs etc and melts onto the rubber mats. I presume it evaporates as the car heats up and then condenses on the cold windsheid as it cools down after the car is parked. I almost wonder if it might be better to let the carpets just soak it up and have them cleaned in the spring. Anyway it takes a long time to scrape the inside due to the curvature of the windshield and you get a lot of snow scrapings lying on top of the dash - which I'm not too keen on. Doing this as 6:30 am in very sub-zero temps is a pain in the royal butt i do all of the a/c etc that we are talking about but this stuff is frozen hard and I would have to idle the car for 15 or 20 minutes to thaw it - which i would never do. aka KWKSLVR Member: Southern Ontario MINI Club BMW Club of Canada - Trillium Chapter

I agree with GordonD. I haven't taken it back specifically for this reason, but I did mention it when it was in for other things. The service guys checked for things like the recirc being on (but not lit), obvious leaks etc.. all to no avail. The fact that I haven't been able to leave the car with them when its been both cold and wet outside doesn't help any either. I'm certain they think I'm exaggerating. It has to be to do with bringing moisture into the car. I really can't think of any other explanation. And its really a grade A pain in the rear waiting for the frozen to defrost.

PEOPLE - the reason you're having condensation buildup is because you have "recirculation" on....you have to have fresh air in the car for that NOT to happen, so turn it off. All cars do this in some way. Trust me, that's the problem! Well, unless you have something blocking those 2 vents in the trunk.
