Question Convertible Roof Stuck Closed. 2005 S Convertible

The left side of the convertible roof does not "unlatch" when I attempt to lower roof. Right side "unlatches" fine. I am aware of the sensor on the left side of the rear shelf. It is fine, as I can hear the click when shelf is lowered. The problem happens with windows all up or all down when "lower roof" button is engaged. No red lights or other warnings come on.

Any suggestions will be appreciated.

I am having a similar problem. My top doesn't unlatch on the drivers side...I called the dealership where it was purchased and the mechanic said that he had dealt with this issue a number of time (actually had someone come in that very weekend) and that it usually is a snapped cable. The cost...$1,800!!!! I cannot believe it especially since I can Google the issue and find 100's of people who have this exact problem!! I asked how much the price of the part was and I was told around $900 and the labor was around $900...I seriously hope that people get together and get MINI to see this is an obvious defect. Let me know if you find out anything different or helpful

I am currently having the same problem...have not taken it to anyone yet. Has anyone gotten the problem resolved? How much did it cost?

This may not be much help to you guys in the USA but mine went and cost me GBP (£)550 to repair!

I had it done at a BMW dealer (Dick Lovett of Hungerford)

The parts were a good percentage of the price.

Have sorted on wife's 04 Cooper. If cable has pulled through crimps on mechanism there are details of fix available at £0 or $0 fix if contact at 2bike@tiscali.co.uk
