Scotland lambda sensor

Hi can anybody help me

My emisions light came on recently so got my brother in law to take it to his work and hook it up to the computer at his garage. It said O2 sensor 1 no good so i got him to order a new sensor from BMW.This was fitted but once restarted the light is still on cant get back to the garage for a week. Anyone any ideas?

you need to understand that because a code reader says there is a fault in a circuit then the whole circuit need to be tested :- ie o2 fault does not mean that the sensor is faulty you have to check signal and feed , check the ohms at the o2 sensor then look at what controls it , for instance is the coolant temp sensor ok, are there any air leaks is there a weak spark at a plug ,is the injector opening to long.
proper diagnostics my take time but save ££££ if done right.

Another common cause for front O2 sensors issues is a dirty air filter...the scheduled maintenance recommended from BMW seems to assume you drive in a land with no leaves, dirt or bugs...
