Temperature Gauge Redux

i know I have posted this here before but I am having probs with the temp gauge again. The gauge is sitting 1/4 notch above center and I'm the kind of person who wants to try to fix things myself.

Anyone out there who has fixed this on their own or knows where to look around the engine to find the connector or sender unit? I do have a MCS so there is a supercharger in the way!

Any help would be great, Thanks

Jake

PS I'm not worried that it is running hot. the gauge sits between 0 and 1/4 when the engine is cold.

Still playing up ?????????????/

Can't help on were the sender block is housed as I let the dealer do all my work for me (that’s what a warrantee for)

Have you tried going to the dealers and having a chat with one of the mechanics ????

hi tscheez

Im not 100 percent about the MINI'S but on BMW'S the temp guage is heavily damped...by this i mean any temperature between 72 degrees and 112 degrees the temp guage will always sit in the 12 o'clock position(straight up) anything under or over and the guage reacts accordingly eg cold or hot...
cheers guys i hope this helps...i feel the fault could be a dodgy temp sensor...
The LED will illuminate at coolant temperaturs of approximately 120 degrees c

Hi

The sensor is located underneath the thermostat housing.

The sensor is used to monitor the engine coolant temperature and has two wires
both connected to the EMS 2000. The signal is also used
to control the radiator fan speed as well as supplying a signal on the
CAN-bus to drive the coolant temperature gauge in the instrument
cluster.
Cheers
