| Electric motor whining noise ? Fixed ! So I'd just come to a stop at some traffic signals and a couple of seconds later I heard what sounded like a relay click in followed by what sounded like an electric motor starting / running with an 'iffy' bearing.
I turned off the AC and any other likely sources but to no avail.
After a few 10's of seconds it went away.
It seems to be pretty repeatable but have not been able to isolate the problem - even though it's quite loud under the hood / bonnet.
The pitch / speed of the motor sounds more or less constant despite engine RPM, but does go up a little with RPM - I suspect because the battery voltage increases a bit.
EDIT - It's the electric cooling fan(s) - doh !
Sounds like a bearing might be on the way out on one of the motors... Chilli Red '05 MCS - pocket rocket *** Colbalt Blue '03 911 Twin Turbo - intergalactic rocket
